YCSO respond to shooting in Village of Oak Creek

Wednesday night, YCSO responded to a 911 call from a man who claimed to have shot another man in self-defense off Beaverhead Flatts Road, south of the Village of Oak Creek. Spokesperson Kristin Greene say deputies arrived on the scene to find the victim, whose identity is currently being withheld in order to have time to notify his family, in need of serious medical attention. He was flown to FMC where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently recovering, but no further details of his medical condition are available. Greene says the suspect, resident 37-year old Steven Owens, remained at the scene, and after interviews with deputies was taken into custody and booked on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. The investigation is ongoing.
