Woodchute Wilderness Trailhead reopened temporarily

Prescott National Forest has reopened the Woodchute Wilderness Trailhead on Mingus Mountain. Spokesperson Debbie Maneely says equipment the contractor is using on a 41-acre thinning project is experiencing mechanical problems and needs to be repaired. She says felled trees remain in the forest. The contractor will return at the end of the month to finish the job, at which time the trail will be closed again. While roads and trails are open to access the area, camping within the closure area is still prohibited as logs are being staged at dispersed camping sites.
