Residents in Coconino County can now text to 911. If an individual uses the text to 9-1-1 system, the call will be routed to the dispatch center responsible for all 9-1-1 calls. Officials say during an emergency or life-threatening situation, a voice call is the best and fastest way for the 9-1-1 call taker to obtain and deliver information. Yavapai County began the program last year.
