Cottonwood Police seize 30-pounds of meth and fentanyl pills after traffic stop

On October 7-th at about 4:30-pm, Cottonwood and Williams Police officers conducted highway interdiction on I-17. Cottonwood Police Sgt. Monica Kuhlt says officers stopped a vehicle for criminal speed, northbound near mile post-272. The driver presented a Mexico driver’s license which identified him as 33-year old Jose German-Barraza. She says German-Barraza fled on foot after he was asked to step out of the vehicle. Once the driver fled, his passenger 29-year old Juan Dedios Cuadras-Cuadras of Phoenix took off on foot as well. Both men were caught a short time later. Officers located about 30-pounds of methamphetamine and thousands of fentanyl pills and over $3,600 during a search of the vehicle. Both men were booked on several felony charges. The drugs seized have an estimated street value between $200,000 and $300,000 for both.
