Stage-1 Fire Restrictions Remain in Place

Our National Forest officials would like to remind the public that many forests in the state are still under Stage-1 Fire Restrictions due to the ongoing dry and warm conditions. Tonto National Forest officials say their restrictions were set to expire today, but have been extended through the end of October, or until rescinded. Under Stage-1 restrictions, campfires are only allowed in designated campgrounds and smoking is only allowed in an enclosed building or vehicle. Propane fueled devices that have a shut off valve can be used. Officials say abandoned campfires continue to be a major cause of wildfires. Officials say the best way to find out what restrictions are in place is to visit “Know Before You Go”. Check with your local fire jurisdiction to find out what restrictions remain in place in your neighborhood.
