Arizona invests in new virus test

Arizona has spent $6-million to speed the development of a rapid COVID-19 test prototype. Arizona State University is working on what it calls a point-of-need test, which would be about the size of a hand-held thermometer. A person spits in a collection device and a microchip within it begins to analyze the RNA in the sample for the SARS or COVID virus. This will give results in minutes as opposed to days, which will allow people to hold events again, go back to work or take a trip. ASU hopes to have a working prototype ready in 6-months.
