Prescott Police locate missing child in locked vehicle

Wednesday afternoon, Prescott Police responded to the 400-block of South Overland Drive regarding a missing three year old boy. Lead Police Officer Shean Hilton says the child was last seen playing in the common room of the home. When his mother went to check on him, he was gone. Officers searched the residence ultimately locating the boy locked inside a vehicle outside. The boy was seated motionless in the driver’s seat and non-responsive to officers. It was discovered the keys to the vehicle were locked inside the car.  A patrol sergeant used a window punch on his knife to break the front passenger side window. Hilton says the child was found in good condition. It was learned the boy placed a box on a chair, unlocked the chain latch and opened the sliding glass door. He was able to access the car keys near the latch before exiting the home.
