The Better Business Bureau has received reports about online “going out of business” sales that either don’t exist or don’t live up to the hype. Spokesperson Marilyn Huffman says victims will find the advertisements on their Facebook feed or while browsing the web. She says the company will claim to be going out of business due to COVID-19 and typically what shows is inventory at a great discount. Huffman says at first glance, the photos, and products seem legitimate but if you order something, what arrives usually isn’t what you purchased. In other cases, scammers never intend to send you anything at all, and simply steal your credit card.
