Summit Fire and multiple agencies respond to fires near Flagstaff

Monday night, Summit Fire and multiple fire agencies responded to a wooded area near Pine Country Lane and Orange Box Drive in Doney Park for a report of a structure fire. Flagstaff Fire spokesman Paul Sanders. Three engines and a Battalion Chief responded; and crews discovered it was a wildland fire in the area with heavy fuel loading on the property. Crews on scene found about a half-acre fire burning on the ground and fire very close to homes in the area, with structures threatened. Sanders says crews continued mop up and checked on the fire Monday night. He says heavy timber piles reignited Tuesday morning causing the fire to grow. Crews were able to contain the fire and mop up continues. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
