BBB warns of “Quarentine Puppy” scam

The Better Business Bureau warns consumers of an increase in puppy scams in the past few months. Spokesperson Marilyn Huffman says victims have lost hundreds to thousands of dollars in deposits, specialty crates, COVID-19 sanitation, and other fees. Since January, the BBB received a total of 61-puppy scams, and a loss of over 30-k just in the Pacific Southwest region. Huffman says to avoid these scams make sure to visit the pet in person, avoid payment methods that can not trace the seller, research breed prices, and reach out to local animal shelters.
