Fire in Verde Lakes in Camp Verde stopped before it reached homes

Saturday, Copper Canyon Fire responded to a wildfire at Cat Claw and Verde Lakes Drive in Camp Verde. Initial reports stated that there was a 1-acre wildfire burning and it was quickly growing. Emergency crews arrived to find the fire had grown to about 2-acres and had jumped Cat Claw and was burning into an open field that backed up to some homes. All agencies from the Verde Valley were called in along with crews from the Prescott and Coconino National Forests. The fire was stopped before it reached the homes and evacuations were not necessary. The fire charred a total of 10-acres and was human caused.
