Pets lost in Saturday house fire in Chino Valley

Saturday morning, Central Arizona Fire responded to a residential fire in the 2600 block of Eldred Road in Chino Valley. Fire Marshal Rick Chase says crews arrived and found a single story home with heavy smoke coming from the roof and back of the residence. He says the residents were not home at the time; a neighbor was alerted by the smoke alarms sounding and also noticed the smoke and called 911. Unfortunately 3-dogs and 1-cat that were in the home died from smoke inhalation. Chase says the heaviest fire damage was in the kitchen and dining area, although a large portion of the house had smoke and heat damage. What caused the fire is under investigation.
