Castle Fire now in the mop-up and repair stage

The Castle Fire south of Jacob Lake on the Kaibab National Forest is in its final stages. Forest officials say firefighters will continue to focus on patrolling and mopping up the fire’s perimeter. They’ll also begin using heavy equipment to clear interior roads, rehabilitate and repair suppression scars, and remove hazardous snags along roads. The lightning caused fire accomplished its goal of treating over 19,300-acres with fire.
