Distraught man talked off the dam at Fain Park in Prescott Valley

Sunday night, Prescott Valley Police responded to Fain Park on a report of a distraught man standing on the dam and threatening suicide. Spokesman Jerry Ferguson says when officers responded to the location, they attempted to engage the subject in conversation. At first the man was not positively responsive to the officers and resisted talking with them. He was acting agitated, throwing his arms up in the air and then resting them on top of his head. He was crying and his voice sounded distressed. As officers continued speaking to him, they were able to learn that the man was distraught over family issues. He says the man was eventually persuaded to come off the dam and he agreed to help from Terros Health counselors.
