Flagstaff man breaks into a church and assaults an officer

A Flagstaff man is charged with breaking into a church and then assaulting the arresting officer. Flagstaff Police say they responded to the Church of the Resurrection Sunday evening and found a man sitting in front of the church holding 2-bibles and a cross. Officials say 35-year old William Wilson was contacted and stated he took the cross from inside the church at which time he was arrested for burglary and theft. Prior to going to jail, Wilson was taken to FMC for evaluation. When leaving the hospital, Wilson reportedly dragged his feet and used his shoulder to hit the officer in the mouth, causing injury. An additional charge of assault was added as he was booked into jail.
