Suspect shot after forcibly entering home in Cordes Lakes and demanding money.

YCSO says a Cordes Lakes man was shot after forcibly entering home and demanding money. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says Thursday evening, 42-year old Gregory Hardy knocked on the door of a home on Conestoga Drive, in Cordes Lakes. After hearing the knocking, the female homeowner walked from the kitchen toward the front door. As she approached the front door, she saw a man, whom she did not know, now inside her home. Hardy demanded money from her. When she told him no, he grabbed her by both arms and as she struggled with Hardy, her husband came to her aid. Hardy was told several times to leave by her husband, but failed to comply and continued his aggressive actions. She was able to secure a handgun while her husband continued to struggle with Hardy. She told Hardy she had a gun and again demanded that he leave. Instead, Hardy advanced towards her. The woman fired striking Hardy. He eventually fled in a vehicle waiting outside. Hardy was later located at a nearby home with non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending his release from the hospital.
