Flooding evacuations in Cornville, Rimrock, Lake Montezuma, Camp Verde and Bridgeport

YCSO released information into last night’s flooding. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says the area of Rimrock along Beaver Creek experienced heavy flooding. Many of the homes along the creeks edge as well as other low lying areas quickly filled with several feet of water. Deputies initially responded to the area at about 9:30 and immediately began evacuations. Copper Canyon Fire and their Swift Water Team also responded. D’Evelyn says several deputies walked in waste deep flowing water, and carried elderly, children and dogs to safety. Four people and two dogs were rescued out of a van that ended up disabled in several feet of water. Deputies were also barricading low lying access roads. Yavapai County Emergency Management was advised and coordinated with the Red Cross to set up a shelter at Beaver Creek Baptist Church, but as waters receded, the evacuations were lifted. D’Evelyn says the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office was also busy with evacuations as was Verde Valley Fire in Page Springs, Cornville and Bridgeport. Photos of flood waters in Lake Montezuma are posted on our news-page at myradioplace.com
