New convenience fee for fishing and hunting licenses, stamps and tags at retailers

A new law is allowing Game and Fish to recover the full cost of hunting and fishing licenses, tags and stamps purchased at retailers statewide. Effective January 1-st, a business that sells these items can now charge a convenience fee, which they keep. In the past, retailers kept a 5% commission from sales of licenses, tags or stamps. The new law also removes that commission. Dealers who charge a convenience fee must post the amount in an area clearly visible to customers. If these items are purchased on the Game and Fish website or at one of their offices, the fee does not apply.
