The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two dogs that attacked and either killed or seriously injured a Lakeside rancher’s Alpacas. Officials say Saturday morning a rancher was alerted by his dogs that something was going on outside. The rancher saw two husky mix dogs in his fenced area attacking his Alpacas. Officials say the dogs killed 4-adult Alpacas and 1-calf with three others seriously injured. Officials say the rancher shot and killed both dogs and then called the Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control. One of the dogs was microchipped and will likely lead animal control to the owner; that owner may then face criminal charges as well as the cost of the lost and injured Alpacas.
