The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, along with eight Verde Valley law enforcement agencies, are joining forces in weekend DUI saturation patrols. The 2018 Holiday Season Drive Sober or Get Pulled Overhigh-visibility enforcement campaign, runs through December 31st. Officials say almost 30% of all traffic crash fatalities in the US involve drunk drivers. On average, more than 10,000 people died each year from 2013 to 2017 in drunk-driving crashes. Which is equal to about 20-jumbo jets crashing each year, with no survivors. Last year,almost one in five children killed in traffic crashes were killed in drunk-driving crashes. Fifty-four percent of the time, it was the child’s own driver who was drunk.
