Official documents outline the series of missteps that led to former Mingus Union Superintendents termination.

In early November, the Mingus Union School Board unanimously voted to place Superintendent Dr. Penny Hargrove on indefinite leave for what Board members called a series of missteps. A few days later, the Board chose to end its employment with her. Official documents, released Wednesday, state Hargrove misrepresented dates of employment in order to keep the district in AED training compliance. Another document describes how Hargrove ignored the conflict of interest requirements in hiring her husband as a part time employee of the District. Another illustrates Hargrove’s direct involvement in the circumstances leading to the District receiving a “D” rating on AzMerit tests when computer programs failed to work and the 8-th grade algebra scores where emitted from the test results completely. Hargrove commenced working as both the District Superintendent and the Principal of the school in June 2017.
