Coconino County Public Works and the Forest Service plan to burn green waste at the Willard Springs Transfer Station, which is south of Flagstaff. The burn is planned for Thursday. The burn will remove the waste collected this year from residents that created defensible space around their homes; it will also open space for the same type of program this next fire season. Once ignited, the burn will put up intense smoke for about 3-weeks and then continue to smolder until next spring.
