Less roadwork through the holidays

ADOT crews will not be working through the long Thanksgiving weekend. As the holiday travel season kicks off, ADOT will be limiting highway closures for construction and maintenance work between now and the start of next year. ADOT won’t schedule new closures over the extended Thanksgiving weekend, starting Wednesday. Any closures or lane restrictions for construction or maintenance work along state highways won’t resume until Monday. Drivers should focus on safe driving and use caution in any existing work zones. Last year, 17-people died in 16-fatal traffic crashes during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Impairment was a factor in five of the crashes. There have been 868 fatal crashes in the state this year.
