Friday afternoon, Flagstaff dispatch began receiving calls of an SUV driving recklessly on Milton Road, including driving on the sidewalk and nearly hitting several vehicles. DPS spokesman Bart Graves says a Trooper located the vehicle on I-40 near Flagstaff and attempted to contact the driver. Graves says the vehicle then fled and began driving eastbound in the westbound lanes on I-40. A DPS Sergeant who was in the area performed an emergency stop of a wrong way driver using his vehicle, causing a collision. The Sergeant, along with the female driver and juvenile occupant of the wrong-way vehicle were transported to FMC for non-life-threatening injuries. Graves says though the investigation is ongoing, impairment has not been ruled out.
