Biologists and volunteers collar Pronghorn in Garland Prairie.

Recently, wildlife biologists from Game and Fish and Kaibab and Coconino National Forests joined with volunteers from the Arizona Antelope Foundation for a project to capture and collar pronghorn in Garland Prairie near Williams. Game and Fish Biologist Brian Sprague says the group collared 40 out of the estimated 250 pronghorn that roam the Garland Prairie area. The collars contain a GPS unit and a simple satellite phone. Once a day it will send data to biologists, who will use the data to identify barriers to pronghorn movement then implement forest and grassland restoration work.
