Cottonwood man arrested for charges of aggravated assault and misconduct involving a simulated explosive among others.

Recently, 35 year-old Michael Frederick Cenera of Cottonwood was arrested in Camp Verde and charged with several felonies from an incident on Halloween in the Old Town area. Cottonwood Police Sgt. Monica Kuhlt says Halloween night around 10:30 p.m. Cottonwood officers responded to the area of Yavapai Street and N. 1st Street for several reports of shots fired from a gun. Officers learned Michael Cenera and a female companion went to the victim’s residence to confront him. Cenera confronted the victim, pulled a gun and shot at the victim several times missing him before fleeing on foot. Kuhlt says the victim was not hit but his house suffered damage from the bullets. The following day, Cenera was taken into custody. Kuhlt says during the arrest a possible bomb was located in their room. The DPS explosive ordinance disposal squad was called to the scene where they destroyed the device and determined it was non-operational. Cenera was booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center for Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Prohibited Possessor, Aggravated Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Misconduct Involving a Simulated Explosive; all felonies. He was also charged with misdemeanor Criminal Damage.
