Small plane crash lands near the Verde River.

Last Wednesday evening, YCSO deputies were dispatched to a reported small single engine plane crash on the Red Creek Airstrip along the Verde River. The landing strip is located several miles north of Sheep’s Bridge in a very remote area of south east Yavapai County where access requires off road vehicles. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says Maricopa County Sheriff’s personnel were actively training with their helicopter in the area, and responded to the call, eventually locating the 46-year old pilot and his 24-year old passenger. Both men, who are residents of Scottsdale, remained uninjured after the plane had flipped over at the end of a dirt runway. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
