Emergency landing near Prescott Valley

No injuries were reported regarding a plane that made an emergency landing in the area of Fain Road and Lakeshore Drive near Prescott Valley Friday afternoon. YCSO spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says the pilot made an emergency landing in the field to the east of the area at around 4-pm. He says deputies arrived and located the plane, which was identified as a red and white Cessna 172 Hawk XP light single engine 4-seater. The pilot indicated they had just left Prescott Airport and lost engine power and could not maintain altitude resulting in an emergency landing. It was not immediately known why the plane lost power. The pilot noted this was the first flight on a just replaced engine. The FAA and NTSB are meeting with the pilot; the plane was towed back to the airport under police escort.
