Winter Weather Advisory until noon today above 6,500 feet

The National Weather Service in Bellemont has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until noon today for elevations above 6,500-feet. Periods of snow, mixed with rain at times near 6500 feet and mixing with rain up to 7000 feet by Noon today. Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions, especially during this morning’s commute. Expect general snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches, with 3 to 6 inches from east Flagstaff southward along Lake Mary Road and the high points of the eastern Mogollon Rim; localized amounts as high as 8 inches are possible. Some snow predictions include 2-to-4-inches in Doney Park, Flagstaff and Forest Lakes and up to an inch in Heber-Overgaard and Williams. A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibility, and use caution while driving. Give yourself extra time to reach your destination today as well as extra room between you and the vehicles around you. Most importantly is to slow down. Monitor ADOT for current road conditions; plows are out this morning.
