Rimrock woman rescued from Bell Rock

YCSO and Verde Search and Rescue, rescued a Rimrock woman from Bell Rock last week. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says the 38-year old woman called 911 and reported she was stranded on Bell Rock in the Village of Oak Creek. She indicated that she decided to become “adventurous” and left the trailhead; she was now too tired to climb back down. Fortunately, YCSO dispatchers were able to capture GPS coordinates as she was unable to adequately explain her whereabouts. The YCSO Forest Patrol deputy called out the Verde Search and Rescue Team along with the Yavapai County Search and Rescue Back Country Unit to assist. In the meantime, the YCSO deputy was able to locate the stranded hiker via binoculars from the trail head aided by GPS coordinates. Search and Rescue volunteers made it to the woman’s location, but she was too tired to climb down. DPS Ranger Helicopter responded and was able to rescue the woman by air.
