Crash on Cornville Road Switchbacks was caused by Rimrock man passing in a no passing zone

YCSO released details into the Tuesday morning crash that closed the Cornville Road switchbacks for some 5 hours. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says witnesses reported that the driver of a Cadillac, 46-year old Buzz Dittman of Rimrock, was passing in a no passing zone going uphill when he was hit head-on by an oncoming semi. He says Dittman was pinned behind the wheel of his vehicle and it took a long time for fire crews to cut him free. Once removed, he was taken to VVMC for treatment of his injuries. D’Evelyn says there was no indication of DUI on either party.
