It’s been over three months since Highlands Fire broke ground on a new Administrative Center and Bear Jaw facility at fire station 23 in Mountainaire. Fire Fighter Brian Monreal says the wildland fire building is due for completion in October and the administrative building should be finish in January. He says the District is consolidating its assets and has sold off two of its stations with a third still on the market. When that’s done, only Station 23 and Station 25 in Forest Highlands will remain. Monreal says the move will create a more efficient and cost effective fire district.
