Mesa man causes chaos in Prescott Valley Monday afternoon

A Mesa man in a stolen vehicle robbed a store Monday morning, caused two crashes; car jacked a vehicle and wound up being shot at by a bystander. Prescott Valley Police Sgt. Jason Kaufman says the suspect had stolen the vehicle in Maricopa County. The stolen vehicle, which was believed to be occupied by one suspect, was then driven from Maricopa County to Yavapai County. Upon arrival in Dewey-Humboldt, 32-year old Lantio David of Mesa, then committed a robbery at the Blue Hills Market. After committing the robbery, David fled the scene of the Blue Hills Market in the stolen Kia westbound on Highway-69 toward Prescott Valley. Upon approaching the intersection of Highway-69 and Fain Road, David caused a multi-vehicle collision. Kaufman says David then pulled a man from his SUV in a carjacking. A bystander at the intersection fired several rounds from a handgun at David, but he was able to speed away. David then caused a second crash at Highway-69 and Sundog Ranch Road. David was eventually stopped and detained by Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribal Police and Prescott Police. Kaufman says they would like to talk to the individual that fired at David during the carjacking.
