DPS responded to a tractor trailer over the edge off I-17 just south of Sunset Point yesterday afternoon. Spokesperson Quentin Mehr says the semi, driven by a 49-year old man from California, was headed southbound on I-17 when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle and went off the road and down a cliff before coming to rest. Mehr says the driver was able to self-extricate from the vehicle and was transported to a Phoenix area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The incident is currently under investigation.
