Cat and Stina Fires near Jacob Lake nearly out

Kaibab National Forest fire managers released their final update on the Cat and Stina Fires south of Jacob Lake. The Cat Fire has charred 3,688-acres and has shown now growth in several days. The Stina Fire is 20% contained with 2,600-acres burned. Local crews have been working on both fires in addition to responding to numerous new lightning ignitions across the district. Both fires are now under a Type-3 team’s management; they’ll handle final suppression and cleanup. The forest surrounding these fires remains closed to the public.
