Less monsoon means more smoke from wildfires

Wildfire activity is expected to increase over the weekend due to a lull in the monsoon. Smoke will likely be more visible from the Platypus and Rhino Fires near Sedona as well as fires burning on the Coconino and Kaibab National Forests. Conditions will begin to dry out with the warmer temperatures and reduced chance of showers and thunderstorms. People visiting the forest are also reminded to make sure their campfires are dead out before leaving them unattended for any period of time. The public is also reminded to take their trash with them; there is no trash service in the forest.
