Recently, Copper Canyon Fire became aware of a scam circulating where scammers call victims and portray local fire authorities asking for donations. Fire Marshal Christy Gagnon says a Camp Verde resident called Copper Canyon to ask if they were soliciting for money. She says the caller stated she received a call from a 602 area code asking for money over the phone. She didn’t trust them and called Copper Canyon directly to check for herself. Gagnon says she’s not aware of any department or jurisdiction in the state of Arizona that solicits over the phone. Gagnon says anyone who receives a call like this should call the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office immediately.
