Lightning burns Flagstaff area home

Saturday afternoon, Flagstaff Fire responded to a house fire on Hemburg Drive that was caused by a lightning strike. The 911 caller reported the lightning had struck the roof and the attic had caught fire. First arriving units found an actively burning fire in the rear of the home with smoke and flames visible. The occupants of the house informed fire crews that everyone had exited the house, except for the family cat. Crews quickly doused the fire and spent two hours making sure the fire had not spread to other parts of the house.
