Three new lightning caused wildfires being monitored in Kaibab National Forest

Fire officials on the Kaibab National Forest are monitoring three new lightning caused wildfires. Spokesperson Bob Blasi says the two on the Tusayan Ranger District include the Rain Fire, located approximately 1-mile east of the Grand Canyon Airport, currently 2.5 acres in size and is burning slowly in pine needles on the ground, and the Gallo Fire, approximately 4-miles northeast of Red Butte, currently under an acre in size and burning in a single dead pine. The latest wildfire ignited on the south side of Sitgreaves Mountain in the Williams Ranger district. Blasi says the Bald fire is currently burning in steep terrain within the 2014 Sitgreaves wildfire burn scar. Blasi says they will continue to monitor fire behavior. He says these fires are not considered threats to developed areas at this time.
