YCSO responded to 12 fireworks related calls on the 4th of July. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says there were no significant fires and some of the calls were false reports.  D’Evelyn says they made contact with a 27-year old Verde Village resident after a report of fire. The man admitted to shooting fireworks at a glass table in the back yard. When some of the fireworks missed the table, they caught grass and pine needles on fire in his neighbor’s yard. The fire also burned a portion of his own yard. The fire had already been put out when deputies arrived. The resident was cited for Unlawful Violation of Fire Ban and released.
