Sedona fire keeps Chapel area fire contained to single structure

Late Friday evening, Sedona Fire crews responded to the 200 block of Fawn Drive in the Chapel area.  Fire Marshal Jon  Davis says residents of the home were awoken by a smoke detector and discovered a fire that started outside the structure on the deck had spread to the interior. Davis says firefighters found a good portion of the exterior of the house on fire and threatening nearby trees. He says firefighters were able to stop the spread and extinguish the blaze. Davis says while the cause of the fire remains undetermined, investigators found evidence of smoking materials and could not rule out careless smoking as a possible ignition source. Davis says smokers at private residences are encouraged to smoke only in an enclosed building or vehicle during times of elevated fire danger. Under current fire restrictions no smoking is allowed outdoors in public area
