Prescott Valley man arrested on fugitive warrant from Iowa still in jail in Camp Verde

More than two months after a Prescott Valley man was arrested on an FBI fugitive warrant stemming from his escape from an Iowa prison 37 years ago, officials have yet to decide whether to extradite or release him. 68-year old Charles Cagley was sent to an Iowa prison in 1978 to serve a 10-year sentence for robbery. His wife, Virginia Cagley, says her husband fled because he was being threatened by other inmates. Iowa Department of Corrections spokesman Cord Overton says they are working to take proper legal course of action in regards to this rather unusual case. Cagely says a private investigator the couple hired in 2005 to research the Iowa case told them everything had been dropped. Cagely remains jailed in the Camp Verde. The 90-day limit on his detention expires June 26th.
