Bear euthanized in Munds Park/Broke into homes

Game and Fish was forced to put down a black bear in Munds Park over the weekend. Spokesperson Shelly Shepherd says the bear attempted to open a sliding glass door and when that didn’t work it entered the basement. A short time later the bear attempted to enter another home through an open kitchen window. Responding Game and Fish Officers found the bear eating out of a trash can when they arrived at which time it was tranquilized and then put down. This is the fourth bear to be euthanized in under two weeks. Bears were also destroyed in Anthem, Pinetop-Lakeside and Payson. The public is reminded to not feed wildlife. The public should also be aware that other predators like mountain lions and bobcats are being spotted on a regular basis. There’s been an increase in animal/human encounters this year due to the drought conditions.
