Sycamore Fire at 75 acres

Coconino National Forest firefighters and other local agencies responded to the Sycamore Fire Monday morning, which is northwest of Sedona in the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness. At last report, which was last night, the human-caused Sycamore Fire had burned 75-acres; the fire was spotted by a member of the public and the Turkey Butte Lookout. It’s burning in rugged terrain consisting mostly of pinyon juniper. Initial reports put the fire within Coconino National Forest boundaries about 9-miles northwest of Sedona, burning toward the northeast with the fire on the west side of the canyon. The fire is also burning towards the Prescott National Forest. Firefighting resources include four helicopters, two air attack resources, 5-crews, and 3-engines. No structures are threatened.
