ADOT and DPS asking for zero fatal crash weekend

DPS and ADOT are asking motorists for a zero fatal crash holiday weekend. Since 2013, 44 people have been killed in crashes during the Memorial Day Weekend. Since the start of this year, there have been 136-people killed in crashes, a 24% increase from the same time from last year. The last time the state saw no fatalities during this holiday weekend was in 1971. In 2015 there were 11 fatal crashes, seven in 2016 and five in 2017. This weekend, troopers will be patrolling throughout the state enforcing speed limits, looking for distracted and aggressive drivers, and targeting impaired drivers. Motorists are also reminded to buckle up.
