Tinder Fire over 9,000 acres 0% contained

The Tinder Fire continues to burn out of control northeast of Clint’s Well and CC Cragin Reservoir. The fire is 0% contained with more than 9,000 acres burned as of last night. Resources assigned to the fire includes 510-personnel including 13-crews, 5-helicopters, 23-engines, 3-dozers and 2-watertenders. Strong winds Monday pushed the fire further to the northeast and strong winds are expected once again today. The Type-1 team in charge of the fire is hopeful the chance of rain and snow tonight through Thursday will help slow and suppress the blaze. Officials say they are also providing for emergency responder and public safety in the area. Coconino County is assessing damages and will provide updates as soon as they can. Coconino County has also established an additional line for the public to call for information on the fire; the number is 928-213-2990. All evacuations remain in place with some structures burned; a portion of Highway-87 within the fire area also remains closed. Some 600-people were evacuated from 1,000 homes. A Red Cross Shelter remains in place at Twin Arrow’s Casino. In addition, the Governor has declared a state of emergency in support of the fire.
