Low, steady flows from Arizona dam could benefit hungry fish

Scientists say low water levels in the stretch of the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam, have affected the bug population so that the fish don’t have enough to eat. Researchers with the U.S. Geological Survey are hoping a months-long experiment to release low, steady flows of water from the dam on the Arizona-Utah border will give bugs that lay eggs just below the water’s surface a better chance at survival. The experiment will continue through the end of August.
