Crews making progress on the Tinder Fire

The Tinder Fire continues to burn out of control northeast of Clint’s Well and CC Cragin Reservoir. Spokesman Brian Scott says some better news is coming from the fight against the fire today. The fire is 0% contained with more than 11,400 acres burned as of last night. He says an infrared flight over the fire early this morning showed very few hot spots near the homes that were evacuated Sunday. He says they may be able to start calling some containment soon. Today the structural crews are focusing on dousing any of the hot spots near the neighborhoods in hopes they can start lifting some of the evacuations. In addition, cooler and wetter weather tonight through Thursday will help crews secure the containment lines. An estimated 600-people were evacuated from their homes Sunday; the Governor has declared a state of emergency in support of the fire. A portion of Highway-87 near the fire remains closed.
