Prescribed burns and wildfires fill the Verde Valley with smoke

Prescribed burns and wildfires are the reason for all the smoke in Sedona and the Verde Valley today. Coconino National Forest spokesman Brady Smith says we’ll likely see smoky conditions through the week. Moisture received on Friday has allowed fire managers to conduct some key burns. Kaibab crews are burning south of Williams and Coconino Forest crews burned near Lake Mary Monday and are burning again today in the area of Beaver Creek. Smoke typically travels off the rim at night and settles into the Verde Valley.
