A discarded cigarette butt started a brush fire behind an apartment building in Uptown Sedona over the weekend. Sedona Fire Marshal John Davis says the smoldering butt caught dry grass on fire which quickly engulfed a nearby tree. Davis says the blaze was just a few blocks from Fire Station 3 so crews were able to respond quickly and keep the fire from spreading to the nearby building. Davis reminds residents and visitors that with extremely dry conditions and low relative humidity, even the smallest of things can start a fire.
